Duck Stuffed Animal Toy

Large Rectangle

You might think that duck stuffed animal toys are reserved strictly for holidays like Easter, but you would be wrong - duck stuffed animal toys are a great idea at any time of the year, not just when holidays roll around.

Ducks are those wild (and domestic) animals that children are quite familiar with. It's not like an animal that they would never likely see in the wild - a polar bear, for example. Ducks are can be seen anywhere from farms, to a backyard pool. Children often like to bring the outdoors in when and if they can, and that's just one reason duck stuffed animal toys are so popular. Since it's not always feasible to have a duck as a pet, a duck plush toy is the next best thing.

Ducks are related to geese and swans and are the smallest of the species, with a shorter neck, stout body and wings. They can be found in most parts of the world, living in wetlands, forests, lakes, and ponds. Domesticated ducks are all decedents of the Mallard duck a wild duck with a distinctive green head and yellow bill. Ducks are social birds that should not be raised alone as they are not partial to isolation. They spend the majority of their time in the water where they feed on aquatic invertebrates. On land, they eat, seeds, fruit, and acorn.

A ducks body is designed especially for its life in the water; they have webbed feet which act as paddles; their feet are also blessed with no blood vessels or nerves so they never feel the cold even if the water is icy. Their feathers, covered in oil that's produced by a special gland near their tail, are waterproof. And, to stay warm, they have fluffy, soft feathers under the waterproof layer.

Besides the ducks which children likely see at zoos, animal reserves, petting zoos, and in the wild, the ducks they are most familiar with are farm ducks called Pekin. Pekin ducks have cream or white colored feathers and orange bills. They live quite well in captivity and are unable to fly. While some online stores don't have plush Pekin ducks, most have an equally fantastic 12 inch mallard duck plush toy. This stuffed animal's fur is colored to replicate mallard ducks in the wild and it really does look like the real thing. As far as duck stuffed animal toys go, this particular one, is a beauty.

It's sometimes difficult to resist wanting certain animals as pets, especially after seeing the babies. Baby ducks, called ducklings, happen to be one of those animals. But, like all pets, they require lots of care and attention. In addition, because they don't like being alone, they will suffer considerably if not given companionship which means you would have to commit to a good 12 years of spending lots of time with your pet duck. If you are unwilling, or simply cannot put in the time, you would have to add an additional two ducks or more so as to ensure your duck has the company it needs. It's at times like this where duck stuffed animal toys are a much better option than the real thing.
