Smithfield is an area on the Northside of Dublin. Its focal point is a public square, formerly an open market, now officially called Smithfield Plaza, but known locally as Smithfield Square or Smithfield Market.

Notable landmarks include the Old Jameson Whiskey Distillery and the Observation Tower (now closed).

The area is known for the historical Horse market which is held on every first Sunday of the month. However, the city council is continuing with its efforts of trying to move the centuries-old horse market out of the area, with many new residents to the area, including those from the facing Smithfield Market apartments, especially uncomfortable with its atmosphere, noise, perceptions of animal abuse and neglect, and occasional bouts of violence amongst a minority of animal traders.

Although the Smithfield Horse Fair continues to draw heavy and sustained criticism from a wide range of sources, including An Garda Siochana, and the Dublin Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA), legal difficulties in closing down and/or moving away the market, coupled with its centuries-old heritage, have left the city council and the horse fair defenders locked in an ongoing battle without any clear resolution ahead.

Adults Abused As Children

People suffer trauma in many different forms and at times there seems to be no easy way to deal with the ensuing pain. In recent times, people have become more open in discussing child sexual abuse and also in getting help for children who have been victims. Years ago, this was not the case. In many families, it was the custom not to air your dirty laundry publicly by putting your family business on the street. Many also felt like they were supposed to be a strong person and bear what was their due. So for persons who were sexually abused as children and may not have had any resolution to their trauma and have now become adults, how are they dealing with these memories and the after effects?

What constitutes Sexual Abuse?
Child sexual abuse is where an adult or an older child has sexual relations with a child, either with or without their consent. It takes many forms. There is molestation where the child is actually touched or has penetration of their private parts. It can also take the form of the adult exposing themselves to the child, the child being shown pornography or erotic literature, having indecent sexual conversations with the child or allowing the child to see the adult engaged in sexual activity.

The abusive activity can be done by an older child, a parent or step-parent, a trusted family member or a stranger. It is an abuse and misuse of power and control over a child, destroying his or her innocence. If the perpetrator is punished and the child sees that justice appears to be done, there is some vindication and the child learns that people who do bad things do suffer consequences as a result of their actions. At that point, the child can then benefit from being in a safe environment and receiving counseling to rebuild their self image. Hence, treatment has a 2-prong focus. When there is consequence to the adult or no acknowledgement of the abuse either from the child's viewpoint or that of the perpetrator, that child grows up with a loss of faith in the systems that are supposed to be their buffer and protection from harm - the family, the justice system and the church and the long term effects are worse.

The Long term Effects of Sexual Abuse
Some adults remember their abuse many years after it has happened. The incident was so traumatic that perhaps they repressed the memories. This can happen even more so when they tried to complain about it, but were made to feel like they were imagining things or that their complaints were not justified. Abuse can also create a distorted self image. The child grows up feeling like their bodies are ugly because it has brought them so much pain. They might also feel like bad persons if their complaints caused their families to have some conflict or their mother loses her husband, the perpetrator. The low self image extends itself to the person's self esteem so that they have no true concept of their worth or value as a human being.

Low self image and self esteem sometimes causes the victim to engage in self harming behaviors. If a person has a low estimation of their worth, they are likely to engage in a promiscuous lifestyle. They may also think that sex means love so they allow many persons to show them 'love' then they just feel badly after. They then sometimes keep chasing harmful relationships in their quest for love and acceptance and to feel better about themselves, although this behavior really just makes them feel worse.

This haphazard seeking of love, fulfillment and some sense of worth sometimes leads the individual to become substance abusers as the overuse of drugs or alcohol appears to temporarily numb the constant pain. Other long term effects could include trust issues in relationships, post traumatic stress disorder - where a person suffers from nightmares, flashbacks and may become anxious when faced with any person or situation which reminds them of their abuse. Some have difficulty with intimacy and touching and some even develop sexual problems in their relationships. No matter what the long term effect, there is hope for the individual to heal and live a life of fulfillment.

What can be done to feel better?

First of all, you have to come to terms with the fact that it was not your fault. As a child, it is normal to trust adults. When someone betrays that trust it is traumatic. If you do not speak up, you feel guilt and shame. If you do speak up, you also feel badly when your confession seems to cause some chaos and disruption in the family.

You can re-learn how to like and respect your body. If you realize that you have allowed yourself to become overweight and you dress in a frumpy manner, this could be your inadvertent attempt to make yourself less attractive so as to avoid unpleasant or unwanted attention. You can therefore learn to appreciate your body for the good things it does for you. Allows you to go places, feel things, see, work, etc. When you look at yourself in a positive light, you will come to see your body not as someone else's instrument for pain, but rather as yours - a gift from God.

Give yourself time. The memories and pain won't go away immediately but as you start replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, the hurt and pain will eventually find no permanent room to occupy your thoughts. That's not to say that from time to time something won't happen to remind you of the abuse, but you will be able to view it feeling like a survivor rather than a victim.

Find someone supportive that you can comfortably share your feelings with. Trying to deal with your past abuse can bring up a lot of memories that you tried to suppress, so it is helpful to have support. There are even online support groups these days for everything, so you can have some degree of anonymity if you prefer to go that route. Remember, if you decide to confide in or open up to anyone, go at your own pace and comfort level.

Engage in respectful mutually giving relationships, so that you do not relive the past.
Some people find it helpful to write a letter to the person who abused them as a child, just to be able to express your disgust and whatever feelings you experienced or are experiencing. This way, you can feel like you got a chance to say how you felt, your voice was finally heard. You can destroy this letter after a time. You can then write yourself a love letter or read one of the love letters written by God to you in the Bible, that tells you how truly special and beautiful you are.

How can I help my children from also becoming victims?
- Educate your children about good and bad touches and teach them to set boundaries.
- Minimize the amount of 'aunts' and 'uncles' parading through your home.
- Encourage open dialogue with your children so that the feel free to tell you about their day.
- Be ready to discuss sex with them when they ask instead of shooing them away.
- Take it seriously when your child complains to you about any inappropriate behavior done to them or in their presence.

Understand that you deserve to be happy. It is not too late to heal and walk a new path. Take the power out of the hands of your abuser and regain control of your life. It is the best thing you can do for yourself.

Men In An Abusive Relationship

I suppose folks keep in abusive relationships as a result of over time they get used to it. A person gets used to being abused and thinks that it's normal.
Well, it's not.
What helped me to understand that the verbal abuse I suffered beneath from my wife was not traditional was reading about how it was not normal.
I never talked to anyone regarding how she was treating me till I had browse regarding it and began to assume that I used to be being abused.
I was thus ashamed to be in true I used to be in.
What gave me strength was reading articles on-line and books in the bookstore and library. The things I browse was how being treated badly wasn't good for a person.
This may appear obvious to you if you have never been abused, however if you are being abused or have been you may know what I mean.
Without your mind being right you'll never leave. You may simply take the abuse till one among you dies.
I was lucky, I had just enough free time to read all regarding the various issues in an abusive relationship and take them to heart. I did do that over a amount of years though. I suffered all that time. I do not wish you to pay years during a dangerous marriage. I want you to get out now.
Read this article and others like it. You are doing not have to remain in an abusive relationship.
Let my suffering be my gift to you.
I failed to wish to write down concerning or talk about the verbal abuse I went through.

Organic Skin Care Abuse!

If the organic skin care products you're looking at have an SPF rating on the label, make sure oxybenzone or benzophenone are not listed in the ingredients. If either is present, don't buy the product!

They are in fact organic ingredients. But they are found to damage your DNA strands when exposed to sunlight. That makes them photo carcinogens. And photo carcinogens are cancer causing agents activated by UV rays from the sun.

That is totally backwards. Backwards because, well..., it's just backwards. And two, organic is suppose to be good for you!

That's just one example of how the word organic is misused and abused.

You're Trying To Do The Right Thing
That's probably why you shop for organic skin care products in the first place. To avoid weird ingredients or anything that could be harmful to you. And you probably buy organic foods too because organic farmers don't use chemical pesticides or herbicides. You're trying to live safe and healthy. You're trying to avoid foods and products that are bad for you. I get it. I feel the same way.

Every day there's growing evidence that exposure to synthetic chemicals, artificial preservatives and other additives play a role in many life threatening and chronic diseases.

You have enough to worry about with toxins in the air, the water, etc. The last thing you want is to expose yourself to those things when you're getting yourself fixed up using lotion, shampoo, makeup, and other personal hygiene items.

And They're Not Making It Any Easier For You - Abuse 2
The problem is this. There are a lot of companies that prey on our desires. One way they do that is by making misleading statements.

Twenty to thirty years ago, there was a demand for "herbal" products similar to the demand for organic products today.

There was a line of shampoo that used the word herbal in their brand name. The problem was there were no herbs or botanicals in the product! They simply added synthetic fragrances that smelled like strawberries and other natural plants.

They were able to use that misleading brand name because there was not enough regulation. Jump ahead and cosmetic companies are still under-regulated, and that same kind of thing still happens.

The other part is no one really believed synthetic substances could harm your skin anyway, much less get into your skin. We now know that is definitely not true!

Is There Such Thing As An Unnecessary Organic Ingredient? - Abuse 3
Let's say you're looking for a wrinkle or anti aging cream. One of the most common ingredients is urea. It's a natural occurring substance. It's a waste product of plants and animals. It is also the primary component of urine.

It's relatively non-toxic, although it does cause redness. The biggest problem is the only thing this ingredient has ever been proven to do is soften the soles of your feet. The point is this organic ingredient is unnecessary, as you can see.

You Have Expectations For Organic - And Rightfully So
Your mind automatically thinks "safe-healthy" when you see organic skin care products. As it should be. Buying organic is suppose to take the guesswork out of finding something good. But like the example with sunscreen, just because something is organic doesn't mean its safe. Most herbal extracts are organic, but under certain circumstances they can be very toxic. See what I mean?

The Bottom Line
Organic skin care abuse is when you call something organic that isn't really organic.

Companies that use lots of chemicals in their other products are likely to use at least some chemicals in their "organic" line also.

If you want to make organic skin care products, buy your ingredients from organic farmers that don't use herbicides, pesticides, and such. Don't include harmful or unnecessary organic ingredients just for "organic" sake. Simply put, don't grasp for classification in the organic category by misleading anyone.

And if you want to buy organic skin care products, buy from companies that buy from organic farmers 100% of the time, and don't need to pad their claim with unnecessary ingredients.

Chained Dog is Abuse!

There is nothing more frustrating than watching animal abuse that is socially acceptable. One great example of this is chaining your dog(s). What kind of life is this to be chained up in a small area with little to no contact from your beloved masters? I understand that not everyone has a fenced one acre yard for your pets. I also realize that if you do not have a fenced yard you better be walking that dog twice a day. There are countless examples of people adopting a puppy and once it grows up chain it to the back of the house toss out some food and water maybe and just ignore the dog. I find this absolutely disgusting. It really makes me question humanity as a whole. Why do some people feel no empathy to this creature begging for love and attention? You adopted this creature and yet you do not care for it?

When we first adopted a Max several years ago we live in a house without a fenced backyard. We purchased a cable that rotated on its base to use when he wanted out and we could not watch him all the time. I understand this situation I lived it. The difference is that we made sure it was temporary - we saved and fenced our yard. The longest Max was on the cable was no longer than one hour and he always had fresh water. Just because a dog is on a chain doesn't always mean abuse - if it is always on the chain that is abuse.

What can decent people do? Depends on the situation -

1) You can knock on the door as ask the people about the dog and its situation. Most people are friendly and will talk. Believe it or not most people chaining their dogs do not realize it is abuse. Some people are just "raised that way" whatever that means.

2) Contact your local humane society or shelter - some have programs for cheap fencing or resources that may help.

3) Take it to the local government - start a dialogue to ban chaining in your area.

Strengthen animal protections in your area.

Are You an Abused Husband?

When people think of domestic violence, the usual scenario that they picture features a male aggressor and a female victim. While this is certainly the most common type of abuse that gets reported, it is also important to remember that it is far from the only kind of domestic abuse that happens.

There are certainly domestic abuse cases where a man is abused by his wife or girlfriend and the truth of the matter is that these crimes are often unreported due to embarrassment or shame. In our culture, the picture of a woman beating or assaulting a man is played for laughs, but if you find that you are in a situation where you are fearing for your safety or living in an environment of fear, it is time to consider what your next step could be.

Nobody likes to admit that they are in a relationship where they are being abused, and even more than that, there is the concern that they don't know that they are being abused. Sometimes, things like physical intimidation starts small and ramps up later on, or perhaps every incident seems like an isolated thing, not something that is indicative of a trend. Take a look at some of the signs below and consider whether or not you might be an abused husband.

Ask yourself if your wife has ever struck you. Many men will dismiss their wives striking them as something playful or meant in fun, but remember that sometimes "joking" blows are anything but. If your spouse has ever struck you out of anger or exasperation, or if she has done anything that makes you feel threatened, this is the time to stop and to really evaluate your relationship.

Does your spouse belittle you, either in public or private? One way that people gain control over their partners is through constantly making them feel as though they can't do anything right. This essentially fosters a dependence on their spouse's approval and it can be extremely damaging. It can also make getting away a lot more psychologically difficult.

Has your wife ever tried to separate you from your family or friends? There is difference between not caring for your family or friends and taking steps to make sure that you do not get to see them. One of an abuser's most important actions is to separate you from the people that love you and care about you. Do you feel as though you are growing increasingly distant from the people that you care about.

Another important indication that you might be being abused is that you find yourself increasingly silenced. It might not be anything as obvious as your spouse speaking for you or telling you to be quiet. Do you find that you are reluctant to talk to your friends and family about the fights that you have been having? Do you avoid telling the truth because of the "way that it sounds"? This is a very strong indicator that something has gone drastically wrong.

If you are an abused husband, take steps immediately. There is no excuse for cruelty to another person and you owe it to yourself to leave a situation which may become or which might already be dangerous for you. This is vital!

The husbands of spousal abuse often times have feelings of depression, low self-esteem, fear, shame, sadness, confusion, anxiety, and distrust. If you need help with treating your depression and want a non-drug approach without the side effects then go to http://www.about-mental-disorders.com/major-depression.html

However, if you do have dogs around you, it may be worthwhile for you to take advantage of that opportunity to learn from our friend, the dog.

We have main guides and teaching guides. Very often an animal will come into your life briefly, cross your path, or even be killed by you. Those are present in our lives to serve as teaching guides. You can bet if you run over an animal with your car, you have a lesson to learn from that animal's traits and ways. If you are a hunter and you kill an animal, that animal's wisdom and ways should be something you research and learn.

In the case of dogs, they teach us so many valuable lessons. I think the one we all are familiar with is, of course, loyalty. Everyone knows about a dog's unconditional love and undying loyalty. We are also familiar with the fact that dogs protect us. Many dog owners actually own the dog for the specific purpose of protection. Dogs have also helped man work, such as the herders, hunters, and sled dogs. One of the traits I find so fascinating in the animal spirit totem dog is the ability to bounce back, heal, and let go of the past. It is incredibly hard to break a dog's spirit. I had the privilege of helping a horrible broken and abused dog recently. She would hide her head under her leg whenever food or water was put down and her whole body would shake. I finally got her to trust me enough to be able to put my hand inside her cage. I then eventually got her to eat out of my hand. That was approximately three months ago and that dog doesn't even remember those days any more. When I see her with her family, she is nothing less than joyful! She let go of her past so quickly. I have to grin every time I think about how we humans will hold on to baggage from forty years ago, but that little dog can forget someone stomping her back so hard that her pelvis was broken. It took her less than three weeks to get to where she trusted the humans around her and started exploring her new life.

To wrap the animal spirit totem dog up in a nice little package, the most common and familiar traits are as follows:

Unconditional love
Undying loyalty
Protection
Nearly unbreakable spirit
Companionship
Helper
Understanding the difference between and the duality of doubt and faith
Knowing when trouble is close
An innate ability to sense good or evil in beings

If you are finding yourself with the dog as your animal spirit totem, you may want to ask yourself some questions. Do you have the proper companionship in your life? Do you have a lack of love? Do you allow yourself to receive love from others? Are you faithful to yourself? Is your spirit low? These are just some of the questions that an animal spirit totem dog can help you answer and heal in your own life. Are you curious about your totem? Come on in and find your power animal today.

Went to petsmart today. Saw this kitty with part of his ear chopped off and I couldn't help but thing what happened to him.

I used to watch ASPCA on animal planet and get so pissed off at all the idiots that didn't take care or abused their animals. It just doesn't make any sense at all to me. I don't know how they can keep cool. If I was one of the ASPCA people I would beat the shit out of whoever hurt an animal.

The animal trusts you, relies on you. Then you hurt it when it has no idea why your doing that to him or her? and it's completley defenseless? fuck you. I hope you suffer and die slowly.

Introduction To Animation

Animation is a growing sector in India with countless opportunities in the market. With the boost of gaming, film and entertainment industry, computer graphics has gained significance. There are many segments speedily growing in the media and entertainment field. Cosplay is actually a street fashion at first, but with the development, it has become a very fashionable art for some people. There are a lot of people who are so fond of cosplay, they even have their own cosplay group. The first step for you to do would be to either look for a public league or try and get started with your own private league.

There are several websites from whom you can get the required assistance as well as guidance to manage the rules and scores too. Those who want to play football all the time can now create their own game in the virtual world, for we have the fantasy football which is available now for you to play. You will find the same passion, same thrill and action as you find on the real field.

The main function of cosplay is to make you almost the same as the character you are going to play. As you do not have the same appearance as the original characters, you have to turn to other accessories to reach that goal. With these cosplay costumes, you may make yourself have the similar outlook with the original character. The best thing to do is to try it out for yourself. As with anything digital you can start small and get more equipment later.

It may be possible to get a money back policy to protect yourself if you decide it isn't for you. But don't abuse this policy as everyone needs to make a living. Now you can watch a cosplay show for free as there are so many cosplayers who want to spread cosplay and they want others can leave a good comment. These cosplayer will get together spontaneously, they plan together and play together.

Previously, the most creative ones, were created through 2D animation, but currently because of the development of 3D technology it made possible a much better quality and it is also easier to produce. 3D technology gives the realism of real live, as a contrast to the advanced technological implementation of computing technology, making it fabulous for the audience. In order to have a cosplay show, these cosplayers have to prepare some things they need to use, such as cosplay costumes, cosplay wigs, cosplay props and some other accessories.

Maybe it is not difficult for them to buy these items, but if they want to get some high quality cosplay wigs By joining in these cosplay activities, you can get yourself involved and get to know more details about cosplay. A cosplay show can make both the cosplayers and audience happy as the cosplayers can show their performance.

Superman, Batman, and many other super heroes, Tom & Jerry and the famous Popeye! Do you wonder where all they come from or how they were created? Ever imagined what purpose they are meant to serve? Probably they all are a part of intelligent and creative thinking of people and have been able to amuse all from the time they were introduced to the world. If you've been looking for free 3D animation software, you've probably already tried some of those totally free sharewares like Anim8or, Daz 3D or Free3Dtor. Yes, those free download software are totally free. However, the problem with them is that they are so limited in functions and design.

Farm Stuffed Animals

Farm stuffed animals are extremely popular plush toys for children. Most, if not all the animals found on a farm are what children first learn to recognize this includes dogs and cats. Since it's not always possible to have a farm animal like horses and pigs, as pets, farm stuffed animals can be the next best thing.

The typical animals found on most farms include chickens, ducks, pigs, horses, dogs, cats, and cows. Some farms also have sheep and goats and even llamas and turkeys, while still other farms may also have donkey's and geese. As part of educational field trips, children are often taken to visit farms where there can learn about all the animals that live there in addition to how the farm is run. It is here where they may get their first ever opportunity to interact with some of the animals and having enjoyed the experience so much, they likely put in a request with mom and dad for some farm stuffed animals.

While many farms boast a large variety of animals, there are some that house one animal exclusively. Horse farms for example, are another type of a farm in which horses may be used to give horseback riding lessons, or they are places where horses are bred and trained. They can also be a place where horses are boarded as their owner does not have the space for which to house the animal. Boarding fees are part of the deal which includes care of the horse such as grooming and feeding. Other horse farms include ones in which thoroughbred horses live and train for use in professional horse racing. And finally, there are also horse farms which are really sanctuaries for abused, old, and/or abandon horses. Horses that live there are able to do so in peace and tranquility, usually for the remainder of their lives.

Farm animals are domestic creatures which is another reason children are so taken with them. Domestic animals can be touched and fed without risk of harm unlike the animals living in the wild. With a visit to a farm, not only can children experience their first time look at the animals they have heard so much about since they were young, but they are also likely to be able feel what it's like to touch a cow or a horse or a pig. In addition, they may be lucky enough to even see baby foals, calves, or piglets a real treat for any child.

While it goes without saying that farm stuffed animals make terrific companions, they are also wonderful tools for teaching a child all about the animal in which they represent.

Liberating Animals

I am very, very fond of all types of animals. I don't like them to be hurt or abused or slaughtered or eaten. I don't like that and I feel that when we hurt animals, it is a sign of cowardice because we are more powerful than them.

So it is due to our cowardice and our lack of courage that we abuse animals. Maybe in the past, food, nutrients and resources and all that was very limited. But now in the modern world especially in our country here, food resources are very, very plentiful. So we can get our nutrients and proteins and whatever our body needs from all other sources and we don't need to harm any animals. The tradition in China of praying and dedicating themselves to Kuan Yin and never harming an animal by taking flesh or bringing flesh into the temple is one of the best traditions I have ever heard of. If you believe in Shakyamuni, Amitabha, Kuan Yin, Manjushri, their nature is the same - not to harm others.

The first fundamental step is developing 'Tzepei' or compassion, the first fundamental step is outward. Outwardly take vows, when we take vows, we restrict our body, speech and mind from doing actions that will be contrary to becoming close with these Enlightened Being by nature and physically as well. Close by nature means to develop their character and physically close means to have visions and see them. In Buddhism, when we say get close to a god or get close to a Buddha, there are two ways of looking at it. One is physically close, they are guarding you and they are always around you. The real close is to become like them, to share their nature. That is the ultimate closeness that we wish to gather from an enlightened being such as Kuan Yin or Manjushri.

Therefore, one of the vows we take is not eating meat.

People say Shakyamuni ate meat, so if Shakyamuni eats meat, it means we can eat meat. But Shakyamuni did a lot of things that we can copy but it won't have the same result. Example a great cook is in a restaurant cutting very fast. I can't go in there and copy, I will cut my fingers up. It may look like it but it is not the same

People say Shakyamuni ate meat, so if Shakyamuni eats meat, it means we can eat meat. But Shakyamuni did a lot of things that we can copy but it won't have the same result?

Shakyamuni, Manjushri, Kuan Yin are enlightened. Action that is associated with them will benefit that sentient being, even eating their flesh. Because Buddha is not eating from desire or attachment, Buddha is eating because if someone offered out of great compassion, it benefits that sentient being. So therefore, if we purposely kill and offer Buddha, of course that is not advisable but if it is already dead and that's from their heart and they offer, it is okay.

The karma that they kill to offer the Buddha is there but there is also good karma from offering to the Buddha. So it will benefit the animal and the being but that is not saying you should go and kill to offer to the Buddha. So for example, if we eat flesh, there is a mantra we recite. We can recite the mantra of the medicine Buddha- Tayatha Om Behkanze Behkanze Maha Behkanze Behkanze Radza Samogate Soha, Chenrezig or Kuan Yin - Om Mani Padme Hum.

Blow it on the flesh and it will help the animal to take a good rebirth. So if blowing the mantra onto the animal's flesh will benefit the animal then, if the flesh is eaten by the Buddha, there will be tremendous benefit. So you recite Om Mani Padme Hum on the flesh before eating and it benefits the flesh, that means the power of the mantra is as high as the power of the being the mantra represents which, in this case, is Kuan Yin.

In the Sutras, it is said that animals don't have the capacity to understand Dharma. But by the power of the Dharma, is condensed into sound when it is uttered in a mantra. When you recite and the animal hears it, when you recite and you blow on the animal directly or indirectly, it plants the seeds of Dharma inside their minds and streams through their bodies.

So the Buddha speech arises from his attainments. Then the attainments arise in the form of sound and sound becomes words. The words become meaning and the meaning is called Dharma. Why is it called Dharma? Because Dharma is transformation but the transformation starts from hearing the attainment in the form of sound. That is why mantras and chakras have a lot of power. So different mantras represent different forms of enlightenment.
