20070303 - 112-1268 - Misfit's final picture - Misfit (R.I.P.) lurks above, on the spiral stairs, with creepy glowing eyes
pictures of animals
Image by Rev. Xanatos Satanicos Bombasticos (ClintJCL)
Misfit (RIP) was the first living creature to use the spiral stairs. They also provide an excellent camping spot for kitties that want to be aware of what is on both floors. Misfit probably thought we put it there for his benefit. At least, his glowing eyes seem to indicate, "MINE!"

Unfortunately, he was hit by a car shortly thereafter. After having outdoor cats for a cumulative total of almost 12 years, one finally got hit for the first time ever.

Then we got a new one, and he got hit and killed during Carolyn's birthday party in 2008 at an age of 7 months. We suddenly went from 1 cat in 10 years to 2 cats in 2 years. Cat #4, Oranjello, was unfortunately going to have to become an indoor cat. He is sitting here right next to me as I type this, bored as F**K. They're not as happy inside all the time ):

Misfit the cat, spiral stairs.

Cool Picture Framing images

Check out these picture framing images:

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday! EXTREME picture framing!
picture framing
An ugly photo needs an ugly frame. Simple. But you're not going to find grungy, trashed frames at the store. They're all clean, straight, shiny or (worst of all) cute. Even at a custom framing shop, it's a challenge. Screw 'em, then. Make your own.

(If you want a project that's time consuming, dangerous, smelly, and has a high probability of failure, keep reading.)

I had two frames, useless for one of my favoite photos. They were plastic, with a powder silver finish, and didn't match anything I wanted to frame. So, I decided to have a barbecue. I found an ancient can of charcoal lighter fluid in the shed out back, and gathered up some sticks from the yard. Showtime!

It's a good thing I had two frames. The first one was a failure, but an educational one. Instead of just obediently burning and charring, it also shrunk like a Shrinky-Dink, and warped easier than I had expected it to. Whoops.

Now I knew what to do, though. For frame number two, I kept the glass in. I rotated the frame frequently, so that no edge got too soft in the heat. The frame developed some interesting warps, but kept enough of its shape to be useful. With the glass in, it couldn't shrink. I was afraid the cheap, paper-thin glass would crack in the heat, and it did. It didn't shatter, though. Good enough. I'd saved the intact glass from the first frame anyway.

I also learned the best way to char the plastic. Don't hold in or over the fire like you're roasting a marshmallow. Drag it through the embers like you're... dragging something through embers. This was another plus to having the first frame not work out - the fire had been burning for almost half an hour, so there was a small pile of ash and glowing red coals underneath. Ash and tiny coals will stick to the slightly melting frame. That's good. Carbon is your friend. It adds texture, and looks appropriately crappy.

Optional - burn the easel!

I don't really recommend this. I'm not sure I'll try it next time. Whatever space-age combination of wood pulp and glue that thing was made up of, it did not want to let itself be scorched. As far as burning is concerned, the easel seemed to have two states - barely turning brown, and "Oh my god it's a massive fireball!". Both attempts to scorch the easel were frustrating, and contenders for a Darwin Award. The first attempt was a failure. The second attempt was worse, in terms of danger, but at least it resulted in something I could use.

The final thing you'll need to do is wait. That thing reeked. A campfire smell may be tolerable, but campfire and chemicals isn't something you want. I left it outside for two days before bringing it in the house. That's another reason not to burn the easel. The plastic didn't smell very bad once it had cooled, but the easel was something else entirely. To my surprise, it still fit together well enough to hold a photograph.

The result is the ugly by-product of poor planning and reckless execution, and I love it.

Disneyworld is the perfect place for 7-year-olds and the 7-year-old in me. We had a great time there and I can't wait to get back again. Tina took this shot for us one afternoon in the Animal Kingdom.

This picture reminds me of how nice it is to be a hero to someone. It's kind of one of those things that I've always wanted to be. I'm afraid some day I will lose this "hero" status. I don't want to think about that right now!

1954 Borgward Isabella Coupe (19)
picture sizes
The Borgward Isabella is a medium sized two door saloon that was manufactured by the Bremen based auto-manufacturer Carl F. W. Borgward GmbH between 1954 and 1962. Initially the car was badged, like its predecessor, as the Hansa 1500, but within the company it was known from the beginning by the code name, Isabella (after Carl Borgward's wife), and cars produced after 1957 bore the ‘Isabella’ name, inscribed eye catchingly within the rhombus at the centre of the front grill: in retrospect the car produced from 1954 is known as the Isabella to differentiate it from the (first) Hansa 1500/1800 which the company produced between 1949 and 1954.

Despite its aspirational positioning in the marketplace, the Isabella had a smaller engine (and was marginally shorter) than its immediate predecessor. Late in 1952 the firm had launched their six cylinder Hansa 2400 model. The larger car never found many buyers; but in 1954 it made commercial sense to keep the two models from competing too directly with one another.

Initial sales volumes were not maintained. Responding to a sales decline of almost a third between 1955 and 1956, Carl Borgward decided to produce a more beautiful Isabella with a shortened roof line. The Borgward Isabella Coupé was developed, and the four hand built prototypes were well received by the press. Borgward gave one of these prototypes to his wife, Elizabeth, who would continue to drive it into the 1980s. Commercial production of the coupé, powered by the more powerful TS version of the engine first seen in the cabriolet, commenced in January 1957. The coupe appears to have achieved it’s marketing objective of further distancing the Isabella’s image from similarly sized competitors from Opel and Ford.

This is the hardest composite picture i have made so far.
it contains of three separated pairs.
i took the animals in our nature museum (Taxidermy) and later took a landscape by intention for creating this composite.
Still there are many wild rams in our Iranian mountains but unfortunately the number of Iranian panthers sadly have been reduced that it rarely maybe found in Iran today !

For better viewing see this picture on its original bigger size, I recommend!

I have been meaning to stop and photo this for ages, so today as I left town I finally stopped.
Yes this is a talking pole, rumour has it that it got misplaced and was found a year or so after it was completed lying in long grass and slightly the worse for wear. It was then repaired, repainted and put in place on the right of the State Highway One as you enter Tokoroa heading South.
