Impressive Weekly Animal Pictures: June 12 - 18

The pictures of a tiger cub playing with a dog at Hefei Zoo in China's eastern province of Anhui, a hungry lioness trying to eat a little boy at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Coloradoa, a fox trying to steal eggs, a bat flying and smiling in Jakarta, and so on are considered as some among the most impressive animal pictures of the week from June 12 to June 18.



This tiger cub is one of two cubs that have been nursed by a surrogate dog mother since the day it was born. Two three-month-old tiger cubs were abandoned by their mother at Hefei Zoo in China's eastern province of Anhui after being born. They are currently being weaned onto solid food.

Emperor penguin Happy Feet making its way back to Antarctica, lovely image of “Lengua” dog, raccoon Bobo going for a ride and Marwell Wildlife Park's three snow leopard cubs are among the weekly impressive animal picture of 2 September 2011.



The emperor penguin named Happy Feet has been lost to the New Zealand’s Peka Peka Beach on Monday 20th June 2011. Reportedly, he has been traveling approximately 7,000 km and is the first emperor penguin to visit New Zealand in 44 years. He began his travel back to Antarctica last Monday as a research vessel brought him to the point close to his Southern home. He has been named following the animated film "Happy Feet" due to the similar situation.

Weekly Impressive Animals Photos: August 8, 2011


The fantastic scene of ants sipping colored sugar water, the biggest albino catfish, a 150-pound new-born giraffe at the zoo in Norfolk, the picture of courageous frog battling with a snake are some of the most impressive photos of animals during the last seven days: from August 1 to August 7, 2011. 



A man took a gorgeous photo of ants having tasted colored sugar water he created after his wife showed him some ants having turned white after sipping on some milk. After that, he mixed sugar water with eatable colors red, green, blue and yellow and put them in his garden. The interesting thing he discovered was that ants liked lighter colors such as yellow and green.

Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine has successfully replaced a tortoise's leg with a wheel. The 12-year-old African spur-thighed tortoise named Gamera was suffering from an infection after a severe thermal injury and tissue damage from an unknown source. His left front leg was then amputated at the shoulder and replaced by a swiveling wheel attached to his shell which is similar to those found on the bottom of office chairs. Reportedly, the tortoise is gaining weight and is thriving with his new appendage.

A seven-month-old yellow baboon gives a warm embrace for the little Galagos which is also known as a bushbaby. The emotional sight is captured in at the Animal Orphanage in the Kenya Wildlife Service headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Despite the difference in nature, the baboon or Papio cynocephalus has considered the little Galagos at the orphanage as her own offspring and gives her affection and protection to the child. Galagos is nocturnal primates living in continental Africa while the yellow balloon habitats in the eastern Africa.

Peter Smith from Long Stratton, Norfolk has excellently captured the shot. This amazing cat was relaxing on the small television aerial 20ft in the air for three hours. Later, the cat was falling off the roof. The photographer said, “I think it must have been chasing a bird across the roof and fallen off. It was very scared and clinging on for dear life as the aerial is quite flimsy.”

Two kingfishers fighting while perching on a barbed wire fence, or a two-headed albino California Kingsnake bing displayed at the Skazka zoo in the Crimean city, is among impressive weekly animal pictures on July 16, 2011.


A tawny owl hanging upside down on electricity cables near Southport, Merseyside is pictured by Susan Tinsley, who stayed at the scene for around 20 minutes before leaving. Impressive Photos of Animal Migrations


Summer is definitely the finest time of the year for the wildlife. However, winter is totally different because it can be a hard time for wildlife. In  winter, the food supply of many animals may disappear; therefore, they have to struggle to overcome the harsh winter with many different ways. Almost animals gather and migrate together and go to warmer places in order to find food and breed. These animals will return on spring or when they finish their tasks of breeding. Their huge migrations everywhere on earth create amazing images. Let’s look at the photos as follows to discover the most stunning images of animal migrations.


 


Monarch Butterflies





Millions of monarch butterflies are traveling thousands of miles from southern Canada and the northern U.S to fir forests of Mexico.


 


Bison




There is a herd of about 200 bisons in the Maxwell Game Preserve near Canton, Kansas. Tens of millions of bison once lived in the Great Plains but they all had been slaughtered by 1800s.


 


Red Crabs




Some 65 million red crabs are moving from forest to beach to mate and lay eggs in the sea. They will bring their offspring back the forest after several weeks.


 


Rockhopper Penguins




Rockhopper penguins gather in big colonies to breed at sea. Each year, after breeding, they return to the same nest.


 


Wildebeests




There are over 1.5 million wildebeests and hundreds of thousands of other animals make their migration each year. This migration is believed as one of the biggest wildlife spectacles on the planet.

The pictures of an ambush bug eating fluids on the body of a small fly, a dog feeding her own puppies and two liger cubs, a dog sitting on the front seat of a car with his owner, the picture of two foxes biting and scratching each other, and etc are the most impressive animal pictures of the previous week.



The photo below is about an elusive Highland Tiger or Scottish Wildcat. The animal was pictured by the nature photographer Peter Cairns in Cairngorms National Park in Scotland. Peter Cairns, 48, from Kingussie said that if more people are made aware of this national icon, its future will be decidedly certain. Peter also said that not many people realize the animal exists because it is very rare and elusive, so it is hard for them to relate and care for something that they don’t know about existence.

There are plenty of animal pictures released every day. Here, we opt for some of the most impressive animal picture of the week from July 22 to 29. They are the photos of the fattest orangutan in Britain, a cute panda biting a board in South China, three cottontop tamarins playing at a zoopark in Germany, two rufous hummingbirds confronting each other in Oregon and so on.



At 100kg, this orangutan is known as the fastest one in Britain. After switching to a new regime of fruit, vegetables and plenty of exercise, this orangutan has lost 20kg in the previous 11 months. The 14-year-old ape Tubby Oshine has been kept as a pet for 13 years from Johannesburg city in South Africa. The animal is currently raised at Monkey World.
