Horse Racing Welfare

Human beings have a natural instinct for speed, as do horses. So they love races. If you watch the developments occurring in various fields closely, you can find out that the aspiration for more speed was there behind every invention.

Even in sports also the swift moves were always catching attention of the viewers. Thus in a fast world, speed has become the symbol of life. The love for speed helped to carve out many sports. One among them is horse race. It has been considered as a sport of elite class people. It involves a lot of money and is affordable for the rich people only. But many ordinary people are living on this sport. The horse keepers, trainers, helpers etc are making a lively hood on this sport. But the most important figure in this sport is horse itself. Keeping a horse in good healthy condition is not so easy. Regular medical checkups and application of horse wormers are necessary for that. Wormers are given to kill the intestinal worms and certain other parasites which live on the food consumed by the horses.

Horses meant for race should be kept in good conditions. It should be protected from the extreme climatic conditions and also from the scorching sun in the summer and also from the rains. So the sheds meant to keep race horses should be well constructed. Besides, the food also should be of good quality. It should contain all necessary nutrients to keep them fit and also to develop a natural immunity power. Besides a regular medical check up is required to see whether there are any problems that may affect the health of those horses. A regular use of horse wormers is advisable.

Wormers will help to eradicate all affected worms and parasites from the body of the horse.

Horse racing is really an interesting sporting event. But it’s good to point out about the pain behind the bringing up of horses. Experts are required to do this perfectly. A lot of care should be taken while giving training also. So more than a sporting event, it is a good profession which helps thousands of people to live on it. A horse has been mingled with several people. So there are a lot of chances to get affected. As in the case of most of the pets, horses too mainly affected with digestive problems. This is mainly because of the food it takes. It is not possible to be vigil always about the food it takes. A number of worms and other parasites may enter the body through these foods. So it is better to apply horse wormers regularly. It will help you to keep the horses in healthy conditions to some extent. Wormers are really playing an important role in taking care of horse races.

Horse Stuffed Animals & History

Just as children wish for a puppy of their very own, so too do they wish for a pony as well. While puppies are a lifelong commitment of care, love, and attention, so too are horses but on an even larger scale. Just the cost of keeping a horse alone, can break the bank if you are not in the financial position to maintain it. That's where horse stuffed animals come in. While you get everything you could possibly want with a horse stuffed animal, the only cost you will incur is the actual purchase of the plush pet. There will be no worry about feeding it, housing it, exercising it, or taking it to the vet. The best part is, some horse stuffed animals are big enough that a 100 pound child can ride on them giving them somewhat of a feeling of what it might be like to ride the real thing at the very least, their vivid imaginations can dream up what it would be like. Either way, horse stuffed animals are a perfect substitute for the real thing.

The relationship between horses and humans is an ancient one. It is believed that the first horses were likely domesticated some 4,000 years ago and until the invention of the engine, they remained vital to many human societies.

Despite the 400 breeds of horses that exist, there is only one species of horse and they are all grazers. Most horses in the world are domesticated, but there are some that still roam free and are wild. Wild North American mustangs are actually the descendants of the horse the Europeans brought over more than 400 years ago. In fact, wild horses are all descendants of once tame animals that ran free for some three generations. The only wild horse that did not come from domesticated ancestors is the Przewalski. Today, however, this breed only exists in captivity as that last known wild Przewalski's were last seen in Mongolia in 1968.

Wild horses are made up of groups of up to 20 individuals with a stallion a mature male leading the group. The rest of their 'family' consists of females called mares and foals which are young babies. When young males in the group become colts, they are driven away by the stallion. The colts go on to roam with other young males until they can form their own group with females.

Wild or domestic it doesn't really matter to a true horse lover though many would like to see wild horses remain undisturbed in their natural environment. If your love of horses runs deep and you are one of many that are not privileged enough to have one of your own, horse stuffed animals really do make the real thing come to life. And the bigger the horse stuffed animal is, the more lifelike it seems.

Horse shelters not only offer excellent protection to your equine pals, they can also offer protection for anything else you may want to keep away from the elements.

The most common place that you may find a horse shelter is on a farm and with a farm comes farm equipment, gardening equipment, and possibly other farm animals. If you do not have horses then a horse shelter would be an excellent place to store all of these farming necessities and accessories. And if you do have horses then you may consider sectioning off a part of the shelter to store your belongings or to make room for other animals.

If you already have a horse shelter on your property, whether you built it or not, it is surely a great addition to your home. Horse Rescue

Horse rescue is a noble undertaking set up by some non-for-profit organizations to save horses that may have been abused, neglected,  no longer needed or wanted for any reason, like retired Thoroughbred race horses. Every horse rescue center’s goal is to rehabilitate these horses, retrain them for a second chance to be of service again, maybe not at par with whatever great fete they have done in the past, but useful just the same, even just to be a companion to any horse lover and willing takers, who could provide homes where they can continue live a happy life and never again experience the traumas of the past.

As the recession set in, there is a growing number of  horses surrendered to horse rescue centers by owners who can no longer afford to maintain the direct expenses incurred in caring for these horses. Other owners surrender their horses for health reasons that prevent them from properly caring for the beloved wards.

Once taken into the horse rescue program, horses undergo rehabilitation, receiving the care and retraining needed for their chance to a second life. Retired race horses are retrained to become show horses, polo horses and mounted by participants in therapeutic riding programs. Horse rescue is a continuing process which does not end by closing an adoption transaction. Through continued and constant monitoring of progress and care, each adopted horse is guaranteed a renewed sense of hope and love towards a brighter future.

Since horse rescue centers are non-for-profit organizations, the institutions rely mostly on contributions and donations from generous private entities and businesses.

Sustainability is more of a question on how many more horse rescue donors, benefactors, as well as responsible adopting individuals can support the program. Most horse owners pay so much yearly to maintain their horse, especially so, if the animal has ill health conditions or needs specific dietary supplements. For these reasons, horse rescue centers also host workshops and seminars on proper care and responsible ownership. This is an all-out effort to address the rising number of unwanted horses whose owners neglected them because the animals were of no further use anymore or because owners could not afford their maintenance anymore. Moreover, the annual increase in unwanted horses could not be accommodated by horse rescue centers all at once due to limited housing capacity.

All of these horse rescue centers need the support of the general public.  Other than neglected and abused, an animal may need help when deprived of adequate food resulting to starvation or illness, shelter, lack of ventilation, scarce water supply, habitat or veterinary treatment, wounded animals that may have not been treated, animals who have flea or tick infestation, badly messed up hair can also cause distress to an animal and grooming or overgrownd nails or hooves.

If you are concerned and aware of animals in distress, you can do your share by contacting any horse rescue center nearest your area. Help save horses and give them another chance, another leash in life!
