Wolf Plush Animals & Facts

When it comes to stuffed animals, most children can't be torn away from their cherished teddy bears. And why should they be? After all, teddy bears are as popular today as when they were first created in 1902. Since 1902, however, there is much more variety of stuffed animals to choose from. Despite the teddy's iconic status, it is possible for a child to enjoy and even embrace other kinds of plush toys. Take the wolf, for example. Some wolf plush are incredibly life-like and designed with luxurious, soft fur. Online stores carry just this type of wolf plush they have one that is three feet long and is absolutely gorgeous! It is a must have for anyone that has a penchant for stuffed animals, especially 'wild' ones.

When children learn that dogs are descended from wolves, their interest in wolf plush may peak. Wolves, in fact, are the largest members of the dog family. They are often misunderstood creatures, that have a long history with humans that is antagonistic at best. Gray wolves were all but wiped out in the lower 48 United States, though in recent years, breeding programs and strict laws regarding hunting has helped gray wolf populations bounce back. Unfortunately, gray wolves did not survive in Europe, but they can still be found in Alaska, Canada, and Asia - there are an estimated 50,000 to 60,000 wolves living in Canada alone.

In 1980, wild red wolves in the United Stated became extinct. With a small number of captured red wolves, scientists were able to establish breeding programs and then successfully reintroduced the animals in North Carolina. Today, red wolves are living in the southeastern U.S. with just 100 of them left in the wild.

Wolves live in families called packs that consist of a male, a female, and their pups which were born several years earlier. Wolf plush may further interest a child when they learn about the wolves social structure; they may be able to relate wolves back to their own family (father, mother, siblings). Wolves can have up to six pups (called litter mates) born in a litter. They are born with their eyes closed and weigh just one pound. After about 14 days, the pups open their eyes. By the time they are three weeks of age, they start on a diet of meat like their parents. Like most human families, all members of a wolf pack take turns caring for the pups; they will bring back food to the mother so she doesn't have to leave the pups; they will also babysit and play with them.

A child can learn a great deal about wolf plush by learning more about the animal they were designed for. Like all stuffed animals, a child knows that they are more than just a soft toy but companions and lifelong friends that both comfort them and join in their greatest adventures.

Wildlife plush are life-like stuffed animals that represent every corner of the globe. It's for this very reason, they're so popular with children. From unusual and lesser known animals like the anteater, to the always endearing monkey, there is something for everyone.

The attention to both detail and realism over the years to wildlife plush, has been significant and as a result, they are more in demand than ever. Some wildlife plush can even be found in puppet form which opens up an entirely new world of play for a child. Puppets are toys that both engage and delight children of all ages and help encourage imagination and improve concentration. With the fascination they hold for them, puppets can often assist in helping a child overcome their shyness. In addition, puppets are often used by therapists so that children that have been traumatized, can feel more secure in opening up and expressing their feelings.

In popular culture, the term 'wildlife' refers to animals that have remained untouched by anything to do with human factors, though most scientists believe that human activities around the world has impacted wildlife in one way or another. Wildlife is made up of all non-domesticated plants and animals and can be found in all ecosystems rain forests, deserts, and plains. There are even a number of urban sites which can boast a wide variety of wildlife (not always with great pleasure, however). Children often come into contact with wildlife when they visit zoos and animal parks; they may even be lucky enough to see some of it in their own backyard. Television and movies are also responsible for exposing children to many species of wildlife, thus combined with their real-life 'experiences,' they typically will ask for wildlife plush so as to have reminders of their favorites.

Various governments and organizations around the world are involved in and responsible for wildlife matters. This includes the protection and management of different species of migratory birds, wildlife habitat, and endangered species. In addition, they conduct research on wildlife issues which nationally affect their countries and the world. For promotional purposes, wildlife plush are often used to bring awareness to a particular species. For example, the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), is one of the leading conservation organizations around the world and their website boasts a number of wildlife plush that can be purchased when an 'adoption' is made of one the endangered animals in the world (such as tigers and panda's).

Wildlife plush are not just cute and cuddly stuffed animals they serve as a constant reminder of just how important their existence is to the planet. While children benefit from hours of play and constant companionship with their wildlife plush, they also serve as ambassadors to the world that we all play an important role in their survival.

Camel Plush Animals & Facts

Camel plush might seem like an unusual choice for a soft toy, but if the recipient (or purchaser) happen to be an animal lover, it's not unusual at all. Even though they may love all animals, perhaps their tastes run more along the lines of the exotic, and if that's the case, camels fit very well into that category.

Camels are ungulates which means hoofed animals. They have even toes whose weight is distributed evenly amongst their third and fourth toe when they walk. The two species of camel are the Dromedary (or Arabian camel) which has one hump, and the Bactrian camel which has two humps. Contrary to popular belief, camels do not store water in their humps, even though they can go up to two weeks without it. In fact, their humps are a reservoir of fatty tissue, while water is actually stored in their blood.

Online stores happen to have both species of camel plush. The single humped camel (dromedary) stuffed animal is a full 20 inches long lying down. He is quite lovely and has soft brown plush fur. Then there's an amazing two-humped (Bactrian) camel plush, that stands more than three feet tall! He is likely the best plush camel you will ever come across. Like teddy bears, camel plush can be a lifelong friend and companion and with camel plush of this size, they really will feel like your friend.

The 14 million Dromedary camels that exist, most of which are domesticated, can be found in Somalia, Sudan, Mauritania, as well as other nearby countries. The Bactrian camel, however, does not have nearly as many of the species left as the Dromedary; it is estimated that just 1.4 million Bactrian camels are left, most of which are domesticated. There may still be, however, about 1000 wild Bactrian camels roaming the Gobi desert in China and Mongolia.

Camels were first domesticated by humans around 3,500 years ago. Both camel species are still used for their rich milk which is actually higher in nutrients than cow's milk. They stand six feet high at the shoulder when fully mature and 12 feet at the hump. In short bursts they can run up to 40 miles an hour and can sustain speeds of 25 miles per hour.

While camels can live until they are 60 years of age, camel plush will age with you, for as long as you choose to have it. If you and your camel plush should ever be separated, it would likely go on to another owner, hopefully for as long as they live. Either way, a camel plush is a worthwhile soft toy to add to any stuffed animal collection, or, if a collection does not already exist, a great first start would be camel plush stuffed animals.

If you think a large stuffed animal is an overly extravagant plush toy, you would be mistaken. For true soft toy connoisseurs, a large stuffed animal is a much welcomed addition to an ever growing plush toy collection.

Whenever another birthday rolls around or another holiday beckons in the not too distant future, it's tough to find a gift for the person that has everything, especially when it's a child. How many toys can they have, after all? While clothing is always appreciated (by the parents), depending on the age of the child, they will grow out of them very quickly. However, if you're shopping for someone that has a particular interest in soft toys, you have just made your job a whole lot simpler. What could be a better gift than a large stuffed animal? While you may think soft toys are pass, think again. There is no such thing as a child with too many stuffed animals.

In the years since the invention of the teddy bear, large stuffed animals have evolved from coarse imitations to sleek and exact replicas of the animals they represent. They are a laudable improvement for which children (and adults) are thankful. There is a new standard to these stuffed animals that are designed to be much more than just entertainment for children and adults. A large stuffed animal is comforting, there for hugs whenever they are needed. A large stuffed animal is also an ideal companion for play as it can come alive as much as a child's imagination will allow. What child wouldn't want to have a plush tiger as their protector? A child can't have a tiger in their real life, but they can surely have one in their make-believe life. Some large stuffed animals on the market today are so life-like, from a distance you just might be fooled into thinking it's something more than it really is.

A child's stuffed toy can grow into something close to 'human' given they often become their most treasured companion, confidant, and friend; some children even continue their relationships with their soft toys well into adulthood.
A large stuffed animal can be used as a tool to further a child's education about the animal it represents. With many stuffed animals having movable limbs, any number of stories can be dreamt up about what their life is really like in their natural habitats. Children will look on in awe as they listen to tales of how their beloved lion or panda raises their family, survives in the wild, and hunts for food. Manipulating a large stuffed animal while the story is being told will only add to its allure. While most of us will never experience what it's like to touch a real wild animal, with a child's fantasy and role-playing, a stuffed animal can provide a semblance of meaning to what the actual experience might be like.

Stuffed animals - iconic and emblematic of childhood innocence, are actually toys that offer a peek into the owner's imagination. So when it's time to purchase that next children's gift, look no further than a large stuffed animal.
